ENTERTAINER to the LAST
Brother Richard Wynne Roberts ROH
PPGP, PPROH Ass 179, PPKnts Chap 122,
On Wednesday the 4th March 2009 between 7am – 7.30am the Buffs lost one of its great entertainers and true Buff, this is the day we lost :-
Bro Wynne Roberts ROH.
Bro Wynne was initiated into the Baron Roberts Lodge No 5104 in the Bangor and District Province.
Bro Wynne achieved all his degrees in the Baron Roberts Lodge, he held various offices in PGL, and he was a past president of the Bangor & District Roll of Honour No 179 and president of the Knights Chapter No 122, you could always rely on Bro Wynne to bring cause and fun into any Lodge he attended, and always had the Brothers saying “what ever you do don’t look into his eyes “when they had Wynne on a charge. Wynne left the Bangor and District and moved to Wrexham and became PGP of the Province as we all know Brother Wynne was an “International Hypnotist” as well as a Hypnotherapist, even working with some of our Brothers who have lost limbs or wanting help to stop smoking he was even known to stop and visit hospitals in different parts of the country if he knew a Brother or even the Brothers Buffess was in hospital needed some help from him, he was there nothing was to much trouble to him, if “Wynne could help then he would”.Bro Wynne together with Linda where also active members of the “Lions Club” both in the Wrexham and Rhyl District.
Bro Wynne was also an accomplished musician having played in a group called “Mo and the Mystics”. He also at one time held the “World Record” for playing drums non stop at “South Stack” overlooking the famous lighthouse on Anglesey, he also had a love of classical music & welsh choirs, plus photography and was a dedicated family man.
This is just a short résumé of Brother Wynne’s career other Brothers will have their own thoughts.
On Tuesday the 10th March the final curtain came down on Bro Wynne at the “Bron y Nant” Crematorium in Colwyn Bay in what the family thought might just be a small gathering of maybe 50 or so family and friends turned out to be around 150 with Buffs from near and far paying their last respects to one of their own, the Buffs side of it was carried out with great decorum and meaning by the Rhyl and Districts Funeral Marshall. Brother Wynne being the showman he was saved the best to last as the curtain was closing around his coffin up came the theme tune to “Star – wars” the movie a fitting end to one who entertained to the last.
BROTHER WYNNE YOU WILL BE MISSED.
A Man of Worth
On Sunday June the 15th 2008 the Bangor & District Province lost one of its elder statesmen namely Brother William Joseph Vallely ROH Honorary Member P.P.G.P , P.P.ROH Ass, P.P.Kts Chapter,P.P.Ex Council.
The Picture below shows Bro Bill with his Presenting Officer and Sponsors.

Brothers Jon Wilson ROH, Jim Jones ROH, Frank Lawson ROH Presenting Officer Bro Bill ROH H.M and Brother Trefor Foulkes ROH
Bro Bill was one of those Brothers, who did not say a lot but when he did you listened, he would always have the time for the younger Brothers and would pass on to them words of wisdom and would always tell them the correct way to do things if one of the “Brothers or even the Worthy Primo” had done something wrong, he would then point out to the younger Brother the exact place then he would tell the Brother concerned what they had done was not the way for a young Brother to learn. If any Brother had a problem Bro Bill would willingly help them in any way he could.
Whenever a degree raising came up in the Province and you ask the Brother who’s doing your raising the reply would be Bro Bill, no matter what the ceremony he would do it with out the book, to see the look on the faces of those young Brothers who had not long been in the order was a picture, then to hear them say when I reach the next highest degree I would like emulate “Bro Bill” this bore testament to the standing Bro Bill had not only in our Province but the order in general.
Brother Bill became a member of the Right Approach Lodge No 8529; being initiated into the Order on Tuesday 26th July 1966, at the time the Right Approach held its meetings in the old Families Club at RAF Valley on Anglesey. After attending and passing examing council he once said “I wondered what I had walked into seeing all those faces sitting round the Lodge room staring at me” and was raised to Primo on the 26th September 1967, on the 8th December 1970 saw his elevation to the Third Degree and on the 17th February 1976 Bro Bill had his named inscribed as a Roll of Honour all his Degrees being gained in the Right Approach Lodge. Bro Bill served with the Royal Air Force as an Instrument Technician in various parts of the world; he worked on the flight simulators of the Gnat Trainer plane and came out of the service after doing his time as a Chief Technician.
Bro Bill was a member of the Bangor and District PGL in 1968 and became Provincial Grand primo in 1975, in 1978 he became a PGL Trustee a position he held until his untimely passing in June 2008. Bro Bill was also an Ex officio of Grand Lodge. In 1991 he became the first President of the Bangor and District ROH Assembly No179; Bro Bill has also held the offices of President of the Bangor and District Knights Chapter No122 and Examining Council President. Bro Bill also affiliated to various Lodges, The Baron Roberts Lodge 5104 on the 15th April 1970, City of Bangor lodge 9956 on 20th July 1989 and the Jack Hambley Lodge 10567 12th March 1995 the day this Lodge was formed, all in the Bangor and District Province he also affiliated to the Cosmo Lodge 7859 of the Maesteg & District Province on the 13th January 1972.
In 2007 Bro Bill became a Honorary Member, the Ceremony was held at the RAOB Social Club in Holyhead, those present included his friends and his family including his Wife Roz, Bill was of the old school of buffs what ever happened in the Lodge stayed in the Lodge not even telling Roz anything that occurred or what went on in the Order, Roz would tease Bill every now and then by saying one of these days I am going to follow you to the Club just to see what goes on.
Bro Bill will sadly be missed not only by the Brothers of this Province but also Brothers throughout the Order world wide including Past Grand Primo’s and Grand Lodge Officers who he could genuinely class as friends.
